History and Development of AMS
The Montessori Society of America is a vibrant community that gathers schools, teachers, teacher training centers, families and partners to promote Montessori education to every family in the world. The Montessori Society of America is headquartered in New York and was founded in 1960 as an international non-profit organization. AMS advocates Montessori teaching methods worldwide, promotes the use of Montessori teaching methods in private and public schools, and publishes teaching for accredited member schools Standards and guidelines, AMS supports research and public policy advocating Montessori education.
The association’s funds come from qualified Montessori teachers, schools, administrators, educational institutions, and children’s parents, with a total of more than 200,000 members and hope to make Montessori education more advanced.
